I’ll be honest if you handed this to me with no cover and told me it was written by a 12 year old girl on Wattpad, I wouldn’t be surprised. As a veteran AFI fan I wanted to love Davey’s novel, but I just couldn’t. Our narrator, Al, was one of the most unlikeable characters I’ve ever read.

It took me so long to read this because I hated him that much. And by the end nothing about him changed. Just a poor story all around. Davey’s way of writing is almost like an abusive relationship. You come to these books because you want to give your favorite singer a chance. You read his words, and you love them. He gives you hope for a new love, he makes you believe that it could happen, you get excited, and finally, you invest your heart into it THEN HE FUCKING BREAKS IT.

The only reason I could get through this book is because Davey read it to me. I had hoped that his second attempt would be better, but it was much the same.
