Adventures of a pinup girl and vintage enthusiast from Barcelona. Time to stop in Los Angeles, the city where dreams come true. This is the third part of my collaboration series with illustrator Alice Negri, who created a map so you don’t miss all the cool stops in the city!
But also the big list of old school places from the midcentury era that are still alive. Randy’s Donuts is probably one of LA’s classic spots for old school donuts. It’s very close to the airport, so why not stop for a sweet treat before catching your flight? If you have more time and fancy eating like in the 50s, Pann’s is the place to go. It’s a national landmark and has been around since 1958.
Not to mention that some movies have been filmed there. The Hollywood Museum is the place for all things Classic Hollywood. If you are in the area make sure to stop by the Chinese Theatre and take some pictures there, it’s the typical touristy thing to do in LA! Another classic you cannot miss is The Hollywood sign, located in the Hollywood Hills. It doesn’t matter where you go in LA, you will always see it!
Los Angeles is the best city to go vintage shopping. And let me say that Burbank is one of my favourite places to go hunt vintage treasures. Make sure to stop by Playclothes Vintage! But during my recent trip I discovered new shops worth a visit. Crash The Party Vintage is THE PLACE. Located in Downey and owned by Melissa and Brandon, it’s the best shop to find festival outfits and real vintage from the 40s, 50s and 60s. They are expert vintage clothing curators and they are always expanding their collection.
Now let’s go back to Burbank. If you like classic cars and are around on a Friday afternoon, make sure to stop by Bob’s Big Boy. This drive in and restaurant has been around since the late 1950s and is known for hosting every Friday a vintage car show starting at 5PM. And now it’s time to talk about tiki bars. If I had to recommend one, I’d say Tonga Hut is the best tiki place in town. The super talented illustrator Alice Negri created this fun map with the top places to visit while in LA. I really hope you liked the post, Los Angeles has a lot to offer and everytime I go I discover new places to visit!
